NEW QUALITY COUNTS TEST RELEASED

Quality Counts has a new look, a new site, and a new exam! We are excited to release the new version of the program! The new curriculum has been designed to better equip our youth livestock exhibitors with the most relevant and timely information related to the livestock project area. Focused on quality assurance and character education, Quality Counts is designed to teach young people the importance of displaying good character in carrying out livestock projects, and in every aspect of their lives. **There is a very important one-pager attached with detailed instructions of how students should enroll/login to the course.  Click here
  • Here are a couple of new components of the program to be aware of:
  • Exhibitors will first be required to engage in the full learning content before being presented with the verification exam.
    • Please be aware of this in advance as this could take around two hours for most students to complete the full content and test.
  • Exhibitors will be able to start and revisit the curriculum as many times as needed.
  • Exhibitors will have to complete the test once it is started.
  • Exhibitors must achieve 80% or great to pass the exam, but can take it as many times as needed.
  • Exhibitors will be exposed and tested on the content potentially three times in their livestock showing career: junior (grade 3-5), intermediate (grade 6-8), and senior (grade 9-12).
  • Exhibitors will access the course and exam at a new website:  https://www.texaslivestockvalidation.com/qc/qcregister.aspx
    • This will be connected to the current Texas Livestock Validation Website for ease-of-access to information for supervising County Extension Agents and Agricultural Science Teachers.
  • Verification on the new system will be required for entries into Spring major livestock shows.
  • **Verification on the old system is acceptable for State Fair of Texas and Heart 'O Texas Fair entries.** However, exhibitors may use their new number for these shows if they get verified before entry.

Major Steer and Heifer Validation

We will be holding Major Steer and Heifer Validation on two different dates this year. Unfortunately, with all the 4-H events going on during June I am only able to hold validation on Saturday's this year.

The first one will be held on Saturday June 16th from 9-12 at the Cox's Ranch
Address: 9284 FM 150, Driftwood, Tx 78619

The second one will be held on Saturday June 23rd from 9-12 at the Krackau's Ranch

Families who show heifers do be aware that this is only the first validation of the year, so do not worry if you do not have a heifer yet as we will have another validation in November. This is a question I get every year so I thought I would go ahead an mention it now.

2018 Horse Validation

The 2018 Horse Validation is open on 4-H Connect.
As in years past, the cost for validation is $10 per horse from March 1st through April 15th, $20 per horse from April 16th through May 1st and we have added a late fee of $250 per horse from May 2nd through May 5th.  There will be absolutely no validations accepted after May 5th.   Also, please encourage those with registered horses to make sure that they apply for and receive any necessary transfer of ownership with the breed association.  The owner listed in 4-H Connect must match the owner of record on the horse’s registration papers, and appropriate relationship status selected between the horse owner and the 4-Her.  We are partnering with various breed associations to recognize those youth showing registered horses at the State 4-H Horse Show, and in order to be eligible for those breed awards the registration papers must be correct and uploaded to 4-H connect.

We have several new additions to the State 4-H Horse Show this year, including a new class: Quad Drill; jackpots for speed, roping and ranch sorting events; and expanded scholarship opportunities including the Hi Pro feed incentive program.
