Turkey Orders Due June 10, 2016

 Turkey Orders: Due June 10, 2016 - Must be ordered in multiples of 25, maximum of 75 per exhibitor, or a maximum of 75 per family, if sharing the set of birds with multiple exhibitors. Cost of poults is $3.50 each. Order form is attached using the link below. Payment in full must accompany order. Pickup date will be sometime the first week of November.

Please remember that ORDERING BIRDS does NOT  enter you in any livestock shows.

4-H Recordbooks & Star Awards

4-H Recordbooks & 4-H Star Awards

4-H Recordbooks
Recordkeeping is a very valuable skill taught to members of the Texas 4-H program. Members are encouraged to keep project records and have these records reviewed annually by submitting a Texas 4-H Recordbook. The primary purposes of completing a recordbook:
- for young people to develop the skills necessary to set goals, work toward achieving those goals, reflect on his/her experiences, and set new and higher goals for themselves
- to prepare young people for the process of completing quality academic scholarship applications

4-H Recordbooks are due to the Hays Co. Extension office by 5 pm on Mon., June 27thClick here for more details.  We need adult and teen 4-H volunteers to help judge recordbooks that same evening, so please sign up.  Dinner will be provided between 5 and 6 pm with orientation and judging beginning at 6 pm.  We will also need judges for District 4-H Recordbook Judging which will be Thur., July 7th.

4-H Star Awards
4-H members who are planning to submit their recordbook also qualify for our 4-H Star Awards, which include Gold Star for 4-H'ers in grades 9-12, Silver Star for our middle school 4-H'ers and Bronze Star for 4-H'ers in grades 3-5.  Applications for these awards are due at the same time as recordbooks (Mon., June 27th).  Click here for the 4-H Star Award info and application in pdf and Word.

District Leadership Lab

All District 4-H Council officers plus representatives from each county. All participants must be at least 13 years of age by the date of the Leadership Lab. No graduating seniors who are ineligible to participate in 4-H for the 2016-2017 4-H year may attend. Current officers who are graduating are allowed to attend.

Registration will be conducted on 4-H Connect May 2 - May 31, 2016. LATE REGISTRATION will be available from June 1- 2, 2016 ONLY so please plan ahead. We must abide by the 1:8 ratio for adult chaperones.

Districts 7 and 10 Council Teams have joined forces to create a Leadership-Lab experience you will never forget! This year’s Theme is “Lighting the Fire Within”. The event will be held
 June 22nd -24th at the one and only Texas 4-H Conference Center in Brownwood, Texas. Come and join other 4-Her’s from District 7 and 10 and enjoy three days and two nights of fun as we work together to build leadership skills and character necessary for success! There will be outstanding and innovative workshops & activities, instilling skills that you can take back to you counties. These include:

Service Learning
 Challenge Course & More!

4-H members who are eligible according to their District by-laws can run for a District Office on their District Council. Each District is looking for a strong group of candidates to run and lead District 7 or District 10 for the 2016-2017 year! If you are interested in running for an office or learning how you can pursue this in the future, talk with you Country Extension Agent before it is too late. Applications for District 10 are due May 31, 2016.
