packets will be released mid-spring prior to registration opening on 4-H
Connect.
Texas 4-H Roundup is
scheduled for June 5-8, 2017 in College Station, TX. Registration will be
from May 1 – May 16, 2017. There will not be a Late Registration period
offered this year. Other important reminders and changes for 2017 are as
follows:
REMINDERS / CHANGES FOR 2017
Changes in red bold
• Youth MAY NOT participate in more than one contest in
a day.
• All contest registrations
(Qualifying or Invitational) will be $25.00. There will not be a one-day pass
option for contests.
• The Invitational Meat Judging and Identification contest
will be held simultaneously with the qualifying contest on Wednesday. The
invitational contest will be open to individuals or teams of two, limit
of three teams per county.
• Robotics Challenge. This contest will be limited to one
intermediate and/or one senior team per county. Entries will be accepted on
a first-come, first-served basis for a total of 24 teams. There will be
an “intent to compete” registration process again this year prior to May 1,
2017 . More details to come in early Spring from Derrick Bruton.
• County travel grants will be offered for up to 10 counties.
The grants will be $500 and will be awarded during the Thursday general
assembly. Applications will be submitted online. Deadline will be Monday, April
3, 2017.
• The Healthy Lifestyles contest will be held Thursday, June 8th
• The Recipe Rally Contest – Dinner Tonight presentations will
NOT be held in 2017.
• As a point of clarification, in
an invitational contest, a county may only have a maximum of 2 individual
entries per age division. If there are at least 3 individuals from the county
in the same age division, they will be considered a team. If a team and its
members are not designated on the registration, they will be placed on a team
by the State Office.
• Intermediate Age youth can compete as a Senior to complete a
team for SOME Invitational Contests. This will NOT be allowed for the
following contests: Hippology, Healthy Lifestyles Invitational, and
Livestock Skill-A-Thon, as these contests have the opportunity for a team to
advance to a National Contest and that National Contest requires “Senior Age”
youth)
• 4-H members will be able to participate in one Share-The-Fun
category on Wednesday AND one Share-The-Fun category on Thursday.
• The Horse and Open FCS
Educational Presentations are open to Individuals or Teams of 2 due to the
National Contest Opportunity available for this particular category. No more
than 2 members can compete at the next level. A Share-The-Fun “Best
of Show” will be selected each evening by audience participation through voting
via text message.
• The Archery match will be limited to 120 participants. Entry
will be on a first come, first-served basis. Contestants must be a part of an
organized 4-H archery program under the supervision of a certified archery
coach to participate in this contest.
• The Wool Judging Contest has
changed for 2016-2017. Be sure and review the contest information on the Texas
